What We Believe
We believe the Church is the body of Christ on earth and our mission as a Church is based on the Great Commission. Shiloh Baptist Church glorifies God by reaching people for Christ, building each other up into Christ-like maturity, and serving Christ with our time, talents and resources.
All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.
2 Corinthians 4:15
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever.
1 Peter 4:11
We believe Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. We strive as a Church to put the risen Christ at the center of everything we do. We rely on His teaching to live an abundant life, full of joy in service, and in fellowship with God. We believe the scriptures of the Bible reveal God’s plan for salvation through Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches us how to live, serve, and become His disciples. We depend on Christ as our guide, example, and interpreter of the scriptures, and we need no other to mediate between our God and us. We strive daily, through prayer and Bible study, to deepen our relationship with God and to improve our understanding of His purpose for us. We believe Baptism celebrates a new life in Christ and The Lord’s Supper celebrates Christ’s sacrifice for us on the Cross. We also believe that the Church is the body of Christ on earth. We are a fellowship of believers, not a building or an institution. As a fellowship our congregation is comprised of individuals who are autonomous, yet a part of the larger body of Christ with many expressions and locations. Believers achieve oneness in Christ and that oneness transcends all human limitations, including all of the differences that exist among the denominations.
