Shiloh Baptist Church, King George, Virginia, is seeking an experienced Office Manager to support its Ministerial staff and Church Office operations. This is a part-time hourly position averaging 20 hours per week.
The position requires a self-motivated individual, with a professional demeanor and presence, positive attitude, strong work ethic, and excellent verbal communication and inter-personal skills. He/she must possess strong organizational skills, proficiency in office management procedures, knowledge of office equipment, including computers, printers, and associated software (Microsoft Office Suite required; desktop publishing, Facebook and web page skills a plus). This person must be able to multi-task, be flexible in their job routine, work as team member in a collaborative environment, and relate well to other church staff, congregants and visitors. The Shiloh Baptist Church Office Manager provides support in carrying out the operational responsibilities of the Shiloh Baptist Church Office. This individual is the single source of administrative support for the Pastor and five members of the Church Ministerial staff. This position is directly supervised by the Pastor; who provides the overall objectives of the work assignments, priorities, and deadlines. Work may be reviewed to ensure that the overall objectives are met. The Shiloh Baptist Church Personnel sub-team is responsible for human resource actions related to this position.
The Office Manager interacts with members of the public, guests, volunteers, and congregants. It is critical for the individual filling this roll to carry out the required functions in a highly organized and professional manner. The nature of the position within the Church, requires the Office Manager to demonstrate a positive attitude, compassion, integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.
This is a part–time hourly position averaging 20 hours per week. Annual and sick leave are provided, based on hourly schedule and tenure. Core work hours are five days a week, Monday through Friday. Hours may be assigned as necessary for office coverage and special events.
The work location occurs primarily inside the Church facilities located at 13457 Kings Hwy King George, VA 22485 and is generally sedentary in nature. The Office Manager must be able to comfortably carry small to medium sized boxes (up to 50 lbs) and maneuver within the facility that includes stairwells. Shiloh Baptist Church is a non-smoking facility.

Ministerial Staff Support
Provide Office coverage during core hours.
Provide clerical, administrative, and communication support.
Provide support in preparation of presentations.
Respond to requests for information.
Attend planning and staff meeting events, as required.
Prepare and Distribute Correspondence
Coordinate monthly newsletter input and publish final content.
Prepare and produce weekly church bulletins and other special service documents.
Serve as Church Office Receptionist
Answer phone, respond to / send e-mail and greet visitors.
Provide information as requested.
Receive and relay messages to appropriate individuals.
Maintain Church Calendar
Schedule Ministry appointments, meetings and events.
Post events on Church calendars.
Monitor, order, and maintain office supplies.
Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail.
Coordinate travel requirements for Church Staff.
Prepare disbursement and deposit voucher requests.
Other Duties as Assigned
Required Experience and Skills
- Two years of experience in an Office Manager position, preferably supporting multiple individuals.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; with an emphasis on compassion, integrity, and discretion.
- Highly proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Desktop Publishing software.
- Facebook and/or web page expertise is a plus.
- Have or quickly develop an understanding of Shiloh Baptist Church’s organizational structure, ministries, and protocols.
